Daphne testing large-scale emission reduction technology at Ampegon

We are proud to announce the building of our first large scale emission reduction technology prototype test centre in Switzerland. Daphne's core technology to clean multiple forms of toxic pollution and GHG emissions are now set up in a test centre to continue the development and testing of Daphne's award-winning technology, an enabler to reach the Net-Zero goals of the future.

The converter and housing of the technology were constructed by Daphne and the power supply by Ampegon, a powerful market leader in radio-frequency amplifiers and high-voltage and high-current power systems. Ampegon Power Electronics serves the global Science, MedTech, Industry and Broadcast markets with an extensive product range tailored to customer needs. The products and services stand for innovation, advanced technology, and premium quality systems.

Daphne's Mechanical Design Engineer, Anders Olsson, has been a juggernaut with the help of Sweden's RPS AB to build a 500 kW cartridge, which is an essential component of Daphne's core technology.

Anders has more than ten years of experience within the maritime industry, working with a wide range of technologies; marine engines, Ro-Ro equipment, renewables and offshore. In addition, he has 3+ years from the automotive industry.  He is a significant key player as Daphne will move into new markets in line with our acceleration strategy. At Daphne, Anders develops and designs the scale-up of our core technology with a primary focus on mechanical features.

RPS AB is a Limited Liability company in Sweden that deals with steel and mechanical constructions. They manufacture and assemble everything from small parts to large assemblies with expertise in welding and mechanical construction and excellent knowledge of materials.

At Ampegon's site in Kleindöttingen, the 500 kW cartridge was tested with Daphne's patented Wavelet Pulsed Power (WPP TM) power supply that has been jointly developed with Ampegon. Daphne's Head of Mechatronics, Dr Dominik Neumayr, is leading the effort to stress-test both the cartridge and the WPP TM power supply prototype with the help of Ampegon's system engineers.

Results of the tests

We are happy to announce that the prototype test centre with the 500 kW cartridge and WPPTM power supply operated at nominal power levels. Furthermore, system operating parameters were also optimised during the commissioning, and the targeted power conversion efficiency was verified.

With the success of this testing campaign, Daphne and Ampegon are now preparing the next milestone of scaling up production for the cartridge and the WPPTM power supply, respectively.

During the test campaign, Daphne and Ampegon hosted representatives from Hyundai Heavy Industries,  the world's largest shipbuilding company, who witnessed the successful testing of Daphnes' prototype system.
